This is just what was important to me and may or may not register with your values or needs. As a brief introduction I should say I've always had high end cameras but never considered myself a "shutterbug" and I truly hated carrying around a big bag of camera bodies and lenses. First and foremost I've always considered a camera to be a fine instrument and desired precision engineering and permanent materials. In other words, an alloy body and fine detailing were more important to me than a gaggle of features that I probably wouldn't ever use. Secondly, I wanted premium glass in a minimal package of 2 or 3 lenses, also well crafted, and optically as perfect I could get. Third, I wanted an image stabilization function central to the camera itself and not reliant on a specific lens for its function and performance. Finally, I wanted an intuitive system that would allow me to take pictures without having to think like a software engineer. Based upon my criteria the Olympus E-3 met these requirements. Additionally, way back in my film past I had an Olympus OM4T that was one of my favorite film cameras of all time. I still regret selling it. The video explains it all but if you want some in-depth details: Canon 2400 SLR Gadget Bag - I use this bag when I need to transport all of my photography equipment at once. Otherwise, it's a used as a storage bag when my equipment is not in use. Tamrac Digital Zoom 4 - I use this bag to carry the bare minimum when I'm shooting in the streets or on a trip. It keeps things super light and is more discrete. Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS (1000D) - While its the bottom of the Canon DSLR lineup, it does what I need it to do. Looking to upgrade to a 60D when I get the money though. Canon Powershot A720 IS (not shown) - used for filming this video. It was my camera before I stepped up to a DSLR. I keep it around for those situations where it might be risky to take out my DSLR. Canon EF-S 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 IS - This came with the camera, and I keep it around for those few times a year when I need the wide angle. Canon EF 28-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS USM - I bought this for an upcoming trip where I need a versatile lens. I would've gotten a Canon EF 24-105 L, but my budget didn't allow it. This lens ended up being the best bang for the buck for this situation because of the range, image quality, and the quick USM. Canon EF 50mm 1.8 - Do I need to explain this one? Sharp, fast, and most of all cheap. This is my preferred walkaround lens when I'm not restricted by space like when I'm shooting on the streets. Budget Camera Gear - $20 Cases!! What I use to protect my DSLR stuff

This video is an answer to an email I received shortly after doing my video on setting up the JVC Everio and a Letus Mini DOF adapter. Someone wanted to know what I was using for a case. So, here is a vid showing what I did. While very customizable, and pretty roomy, It is not as good as a Pelican case. it's still much more protective than an over-the-shoulder soft camera case or bag. Best of all, it is INEXPENSIVE.
